It’s almost that time of year again. That’s right Summer Movie Time!!! Can you feel the excitement of all of the original… sequels that Hollywood has planned for us? What will have the biggest box office? What film will fall flat, even though they spent zillions? What ‘small film’ will blow everyone away? Do any of us really care about all of that?
I will partake of at least 2 sequels this summer, I can't lie about that. The Dark Knight (sequel to the very good Batman Begins) and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull are very high on my list. Of the *ahem* "original" movies I am eager to see Iron Man, Will Smith as the alcoholic superhero Hancock and the ensemble comedy of Tropic Thunder. With this movie all I have to go on is the premise (actors thrown in to a Rambo-esque situation, the actors think that they are still filming a movie, hilarity hopefully ensues).
The M. Night Shyamalan picture The Happening looks pretty interesting, but if you are expecting a "twist" at the end, which all of his movies happen to have, you'll always be looking for that by movies end. The whole "twist" thing loses impact. Now, if this movie has no twist, that would be a twist.
And I may have to see Get Smart and Speed Racer. Just because.
